MAJOR DEITIES IN INDIA
Hindu worship a multitude of deities, making their enumeration virtually impossible (we speak of 330 million deities). The major gods are those of the trimurti: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, who respectively represent the creative, conservative and destructive aspects of creation. These three major gods are also accompanied by their female counterpart, which are respectively: Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati. Some deities are very popular (like Ganesh), while other aspects are represented only in very remote places of India and are little known.
